Slang is an informal words and continual use and definition of words of informal conversation. Both Taiwanese people and Mainland people
speak mandarin. However, there are some different slang usages between these
two sides.
Here, I would like to introduce two
most popular slang in Mainland China but Taiwanese or
foreigners live there do not understand.
牛
B: niubyixia, which is used to describe someone very awesome or great.
Mainland China
people often express this is a term of commendation,
perhaps the greatest such term in dialectal Chinese. For some Chinese people, Niubi is an attitude,
a lifestyle, who completely disregard what other people think of themselves. They do whatever they want to do with their
full self-confidence. It is similar to the English “cool”, but it means more
powerful than “cool” and it involved the dirty meaning.
給力: gelivable, please do not be surprised. Geliveable is an explanation from yahoo dictionary
website. And the definition for this word is also same as awesome; cool; brilliant; supportive. A person from Mainland China explain
it: , be able to excite, make
someone feel cheerful. ge- in Chinese means give, li- means power, strength or
energy.
In contrast to geliverable, the Mainland people make
a new opposite word- Ungelivable, that was coined by the Chinese internet users
recently. Chinese people express the feeling of something is not as good as their
expectation. Or thing did not go exactly what they wanted.
So, do
you agree the above information I presented is geliveable or not?
