In the middle exam, the test started from a story, and we would be asked some questions from the story, all the information were from the story, if you cannot understand what story or conversation talk about, you will totally confuse for the question asking.
However, there is still some tips, I would like to share with you, first, as soon as we get the test paper from teacher, you must review the questions as many as possible on test paper before teacher plays listening test CD, it will help you to quickly to find the answers during the CD announced. Second, you may find some new vocabulary on test paper you do not know before, mark these new words and listen carefully, if these new words are in statements, you may have chance to figure them out from the CD or the test paper. My third suggestion is trying to concentrate your mind and opening your ears to listen, and note down the main point or words that you learned.
Before the one week ago of middle exam, I listened repeatedly CD was enclosed to textbook, the first or second round, I knew there were some parts not very clear and realizable, I turned the right page on the textbook, checked the words and the parts I did not follow. Then I would listen textbook CD again and again, till I could hear every word definitely clear and remember it in my mind.
Vocabulary is the important parts for listening skill, you must remember all new vocabulary on the textbook, and try to using them. If you do not know vocabulary well, you can not grab the meaning of the conversation or story. Nevertheless, the listening skill can not be learned in one day or short times, just use to listen to English song, TV, news or movies everyday… I believe there are lots of possibilities we can make.
