Assignment #1

Have you ever been in different conversational ball games?  What rules were you following? What rules was the other person following?  What happened in the conversation?

In the end of this summer vacation, my college's classmates got together in one Friday's night.  It was a small class reunion.  We had dinner and the drink in a small bar.  Our school was all-girls school, so you can imagine  that there were about 15 chatty women clamoring in the  bar.

Jenny and Brenda are my close friends who are keeping in contact after college graduation.
We sit together and share our life experience recently.  We have known each others family situation and the job, we could talk everything and  give the straightforward thought or comment to others.

Later, one of my classmates who I hardly contact with told us the story about her family and her husband.  Her long story were about how she felt depressed when she  have found her husband had been cheating on her, then his girlfriend met her for asking her to "sell" her husband.   One month later, she hit someone badly with her car during the period she moved out her home.

Our classmates, including me, we did not know how to response her difficult position.  I just nodded my head and tried  to say some comfortable  words to her.  Some classmates  held her hands as support and encouragement .  Finally, she finished her stories with a big smile and laughter.

Now her husband has moved to the south of Taiwan. Although they do not divorce, they have a better relationship than before.  It seems she has got  through her rough patch and has
positive thinking of life forward.
